Using a gauge dashboard component in Salesforce is a powerful feature that allows users to visualize data in a way that is more intuitive and user-friendly. Essentially, gauges are circular charts that represent a single data point on a scale from low to high. Gauge chart dashboard components provide a visually appealing and easy-to-understand way to represent data, making it easier to monitor progress towards goals.
In Salesforce, dashboards are used to display key performance indicators (KPIs) and other important data in a visual format. Gauge chart components can be added to dashboards to display data in a way that is easy to understand and interpret. For example, a gauge chart might show the progress towards a sales target, with the gauge filling up as sales progress towards the target.
The benefits of using a gauge dashboard component in Salesforce are numerous. First, gauge charts provide a visually appealing way to represent data, making it easier to monitor progress towards goals. Second, gauge charts can provide a more intuitive way to understand complex data, as they can be quickly and easily interpreted without the need for extensive analysis. Third, gauge chart dashboard components can be customized to match the specific needs of the user or team, allowing them to create a view that is tailored to their workflow and processes.
Youtube Video
With that being said, I want to mention we have a video on how to create a gauge component. This is on the Salesforce Emily youtube channel.
The tutorial is embedded, keep scrolling to see the step-by-step tutorial!
Step-by-Step Tutorial
The first thing you’ll need to do is go to the dashboards tab.
Either click on it or search for it in the app launcher.
Then from dashboards click on the dashboard that you wish to have this new component for.
Next click edit.
Then click ‘+ component’.
Select the source report for this new component.
Note this source report must have at least one grouping to be able to create the component.
Then once you are adding the component click on the gauge component.
This component looks like the speed dial in your car.
Once you have that component change any properties that you need to reach your desired component!
Conclusion
A big congrats to you for making it through this blog post! We hope you found it useful!
