Salesforce App Builder Certification Study Guide

My next certification that I am shooting for will be the App Builder Certification. This is one of the few certifications that crosses between an administrator path and a developer path.

About the exam

This certification is a 60 question exam with passing at 63%. It covers many topics including:

  • Salesforce fundamentals
  • Data Modeling and Management
  • Security
  • Business Logic and Process Automation
  • Social
  • User Interface
  • Reporting
  • Mobile
  • App Development

These topics do tend to cross over with the admin 201 certification and the advanced admin certification. Most people say it’s the middle ground between the two of these certs.

My Plan

Any great plan starts off with Trailhead! Salesforces learning platform for all things salesforce! I will be doing the trailmix that is for the app builder certification.

A new resource put out by Salesforce that I had no clue about were the salesforce certification days webinars. These are free 5 hour long webinars by salesforce experts meant to help prepare you for the exam!

I will be taking mine on December 9, 2020. You can see what classes and when they offer them here! Generally, I am an auditory learner. If you tell me something I can learn it pretty fast. Especially if I go through it on my own after.

The next part of my plan is going through Salesforce Chris’ Study Guide. He has a lot of great links and documentation on the study guide and tips on his blog on just about every certification from salesforce!

Finally, I plan on going through some practice questions. I plan on going through focus on forces exam questions. These are great as they go though why the answer is the correct answer and it’ll help me understand the content better rather than help me memorize the content!

Taking the exam

As to when I will take the exam I have no clue! I am going to try and take it before the end of January 2021, but I may take it sooner! Here’s hoping to a good exam!

A quick disclaimer, I took this exam in September of 2019 and failed by about 2 questions. So I am hopeful that after a year of experience and going through these resources that I will pass! Wish me luck!

Updates!

I have passed the exam and made a course on the material. You can view that here
