Can you still be new to salesforce in 2022?

Salesforce is a fantastic career to get into. There are multiple areas, great salaries, and fantastic growth! However, can you still be a new admin?

Well, the short answer is no. The long answer is yes but it looks a little different than you might think.

The Peak of Salesforce Admin Jobs

4 to 5 years ago there were tons and tons of listings on jobs sites for Salesforce admins. And the market responded! We’ve had a huge influx of new admins enter the market in those years Including myself and Jeremy!

Now when you look on job sites you see 5-10 admin listings then you get into the developer jobs. What I’ve seen is a very steep and difficult hill to climb if your first job as a Salesforce developer. You need to either had administration experience or other development experience, or both!

What do admins look like now?

So what does an admin job look like now? It looks like an operations job.

Sales operations, revenue operations, and business operations. These types of jobs include Salesforce admin. Other duties are in this realm but might not be 100% Salesforce administration. These could include working to deliver projects, analyzing KPIs, and being a project manager.

In my opinion, these are things Salesforce admins are already doing and helps to round their experience. So while it might not be the title of Salesforce admin, you are a Salesforce admin.

Going Forward!

Being in operations will also assist you in your career no matter what path you go down. If you go into management or architecture it helps you understand all of the stakeholders’ points and deliver the projects well and on time. If you enter a development career this position will help you understand the use cases of your deliverables.

So don’t let the current job market or job searches for an admin position get you down on pursuing this career path! Get creative keep studying! You can do this!
