It’s no secret that Salesforce developers are in high demand! This salesforce certification is my number one pick for the top 5 certifications. Many recruiters and hiring managers look for this certification (as well as experience) when hiring a salesforce developer.
This certification has the most amount of background work for any salesforce certification. There is one pre-requisite of the Platform Developer 1 certification.
Also, you must pass the 60-question multiple-choice exam and complete four super badges. Apex Specialist, Data Integration Specialist, Aura Components Specialist, and Advanced Apex Specialist.
Another thing to note, companies are starting to trend to hire an admin with dev skills. This certification paired with an admin cert or advanced admin would do wonders for you in the job market!
Salesforce CPQ Specialist Certification
Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) is the next best cert. While many people would brush this certification off as boring or difficult, you can really boost your career with this cert.
Many people like to have a video course and a set of practice questions to prepare for the test. These resources are not readily available for the CPQ cert. So if you are ready to put in some work to study and pass you can do great things!
While this might be harder to study for, this generally does not require any coding skills or experience!
Pardot Specialist Certification
Pardot is another great cert to have! However, this is another that is hard to study for. Similarly to the CPQ cert, there aren’t great resources. There also is not a trailhead for pardot.
The best way to prepare for this certification is to find a job that uses this software or look for a contract position that will help you learn. There are no pre-reqs, but getting the marketing cloud admin or marketing consultant certifications will help immensely
Project Management Professional (PMP)
While the project management professional (PMP) certification is not a salesforce certification it can be a great one to have in your career! This cert requires a fair amount of project management experience. So if you have been in this role before, you can study to sit for this exam and pass with ease.
PMP uses a waterfall methodology with is the more traditional method. If you are looking to work at a company that is primarily not in the software industry this would make this a great choice!
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
Finally, the Certified ScrumMaster or CSM cert. I would classify this certification as a better one to get than the PMP. It does not require the same amount of prior experience. Also, the training and test can be done in a weekend!
This certification uses the agile methodology with is extremely popular in the software industry. This project management is likely the best option for a salesforce career.
