Steps to Enable Experiences/Communities
Today I’ll be showing you how to enable salesforce experiences in your org. Salesforce experiences back in the day used to be called communities so those are one and the same.
Let’s get started so go ahead and go up to the setup menu. Under the quick find box you will type experience you’ll see here there is only one option for you to choose here and that is it!
Once you have that setup or once you have experiences enabled you’ll have more options here so go ahead and click settings.
To enable the experience click ‘enable digital experiences’ and then provide the domain name. Put whatever domain makes sense for you and check the availability.
If it is available, click save.
The most important thing from this message is that external users will have some access to the information in your org it’s very important to review this and make sure that you’re not sharing more than you intend to.
Although, you can worry about this between now and when you publish your site for external users to see so we’re going to go ahead and hit ok.
You can go ahead and create sites you’ve got experiences enabled.
Creating a Site in Salesforce or Community/Experience
Let’s go ahead and just create a site don’t want to leave you hanging without the ability to create a site so go ahead and hit new.
From here you can select whatever template meets your needs just for the sake of this one let’s go ahead and choose customer service go ahead and click ‘get started’.
This name here is the site name so I’ll go ahead and just call this my ‘first site’.
You can see here in this URL this is the domain that I specified earlier and we’re going to go ahead and hit ‘create’.
So this will take a little while salesforce is doing the stuff it needs to in the back end it’s taking that template and getting it ready for you.
So once you’ve got your site created you can do your administrative work on it you can really do everything that you need to customize it before you publish it.
As I mentioned before you’re going to want to make sure that the security of your records is monitored and everything is set up accordingly.
After that, you’ll be good to go!
